I'm Here to Listen
My goal for creating a therapeutic space is one that promotes safety, healing, and nurturing. I am so grateful to have found the spaces Be Your Better Self gets to call home because they truly embody what a safe space means to me from a therapeutic lens. I hope you'll find yourselves loving the spaces as much as I do.
My therapeutic approach is client centered using a strengths based model while incorporating several different treatment modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, life transition coaching, and mindfulness based stress reduction techniques. I love utilizing essential oils, nutrition, and exercise into my work with clients to really engage the mind and body as a whole.
My focus is designed to empower you to tell your story, in a safe and nurturing environment, and to identify the tools you need to move towards a place of growth and healing. I guide and support my clients every step of the way through various methods to help them develop new attitudes towards all of life’s most complex matters.
My name is Carissa Alt-Frankard, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Wisconsin. I have been working in the mental health field in various capacities for over 15 years. My experience ranges from in-home ABA therapy for children diagnosed with ASD, social skills groups for young kids and teens, case management for the chronically homeless population, and as a psychotherapist for an outpatient mental health clinic.
I developed Be Your Better Self, LLC after using it as a personal mantra for growth in my own life. I feel the word "best" promotes perfection in terms of growth, which is unattainable. I believe working towards being a better version of ourselves allows for mistakes, vulnerability, and growth all at the same time.
When I'm not putting on my therapist hat, I am busy being a boy mom to Easton and Daxton and spending time with my husband Tyler. In my free time, I enjoy working out, going for walks/hikes, reading, shopping, yoga, and watching mindless things on TV!
